Greg Gorman

From personality portraits and advertising campaigns to magazine layouts and fine art work, Greg Gorman has developed and showcased a discriminating and unique style in his profession over the past four decades. Mr. Gorman is a master fine-art photographer whose images of stage, film, sports and music personalities are both stunningly beautiful and iconic. His distinctive use of light in his black and white portraits is one the
identifying aspects of a Gorman photograph.

Greg Gorman’s work documents that peculiar obsession of the 20th century celebrity. His photography is timeless and not confined to has-beens, hot properties, and wannabes. Each shot gives a picture of human nature in its infinite range. Each picture is also a testament to the individual character. “For me a photograph is most successful when it doesn’t answer all the questions,” says Gorman, “but leaves something to the imagination.”

Mr. Gorman’s fine art work is represented in galleries and museums worldwide. “Outside the Studio,” published by Damiani Editore, will mark his 10th Monograph. When he is not shooting, Greg shares his knowledge as a lecturer and workshop presenter, primarily at The Greg Gorman Digital Photographic Workshops in Mendocino,California. Following his passion for wine, Mr. Gorman has now become a vintner, producing his first wine in 2006. Greg divides his time between his homes in Los Angeles and Mendocino, California.
